How Does it all work?

FreeMesa.org is actually very simple. To use the site, just follow these easy steps:

1. Create an Account on FreeMesa.org
2. Every night we send out a consolidated email containing all of the offers and requests in your area.
3. If you see an offer you want, or a request you can help someone with, you can click through and send that user a message directly.
4. The other user messages you back and you arrange pickup of the item.
5. You get your new free thing! And the giver sends their perfectly good item to a new home and doesn't have to throw it out!

Likewise, if you have things to give away, you can create a post and have it go out to all the people in your local area, so in no time at all you can improve the lives of people in your community all by removing clutter from your life you no longer need.

How do you send messages to people or add them as friends?

If you want to respond to a post that someone has made in the forum, you can do this by clicking on the "Send (user) a message" button below their post.

Alternatively, you can click on their login name to view their profile. On their profile page, you can send them a message directly or request to add them as a friend. If you add them as a friend, you will see their profiles on your home page, so it will be easier to chat back and forth with them.

We also have a "Search for People" feature that will allow you to find other members by interest, and let you find new friends in your own local areas.

How do I find things in my area?

When you log in, on your home page, you should see a section titled 'Recent Offers and Requests Within X Miles of your postal code (xxxxx)' - Below this you should see offers in your area.

How do I change my location or search radius?

Every night we send out emails to our members on things in their local areas. If you would like to change your location, or change the search radius to be larger or smaller, here is how you do that:

1. Log in to your account and go to your home page
2. Find the section titled "Recent Offers and Requests Within X Miles of your postal code (xxxxx)"
3. Just below this you should see the link "Click here to change these settings" - Click this.
4. The settings page will load, find the section titled 'Change Your Location'
5. Enter your new location settings, click 'Change Location'
6. Done!
