The Anti Spam Movement
It may seem that an anti-spam effort may have nothing to do with giving things away or building communities, but we disagree. We feel that helping to reduce the spam on the internet will improve the whole internet experience, and help in the building of online communities. At least, that's our excuse. We have no love of spammers here at FreeMesa, and finally we can do something about it. With your help, we can be even more successful in bringing these guys down. |
There are programs called Bots (aka WWW Robots, spiders, crawlers, trollers, etc.) that crawl through the web, following the links of pages from one to the next looking for email addresses to send spam to. |
Hidden throughout our site there are links that people cannot find, but the robots can. When they find these links, and visit these bogus pages, thousands upon thousands of bogus email addresses will be generated for them to send spam to. This worthless data will take up their disk space, consume their bandwidth, and increase their costs. All of this is in addition to making them easier to track and prosecute. |
Here's how you can help: |
If you would like to help us bring these guys down, all you need to do is copy one of these links into your blog, myspace profile, web page, etc.. Whenever a spammer's bot is scanning your page, they will follow this link to our page where they will then be given all the bogus data they can handle. |
|
|
The above links will trap email harvesting bots into loops pumping them with dynamically created emails, on spammer owned domains! This will render their lists practicaly worthless, putting another nail in the coffin of this deplorable practice. |
Thank you for your help! |
