Tell The Local Paper
One of the best ways to get thousands of people from your local
area involved in one fell swoop is to tell the local paper about
FreeMesa, and it's easier than you'd think.
Newspapers love local interest stories, stories about helping
people, and people doing good things for the environment - and
that's what we are all about. They will be very happy to hear
from you.
Step 1: Contact Your Local Paper.
Thanks to the wonders of the internet (and Yahoo), this is easier
than ever before. If you click on the link below, you will be taken
to a listing of darn near every paper currently being published.
- Papers Inside the US
- Papers Outside the US
Step 2: Find a Contact
Almost all of the papers have email address to most of the authors
readily available, if you find one who you think would be particularly
interested. The rest generally have a 'contact us' section.
Step 3: What to Say
So! You've found your local paper, and someone to send an email to.
Generally, you can say whatever you'd like to them when you tell them
about FreeMesa, however, if you'd like some ideas or some letters to
work off of, we have prepared some examples below:
Step 3.5: Attach a Press Release
This one is optional, but if you would like, you can attach a press
release so they can get an idea of what the site is about. You can
find them here:
Step 4: Send!
Step 5: Enjoy!
After the newspaper prints the article, you can feel good that you
have done your part to help out your local community in a very real
way.
You can sit back and watch as the lives improve for your local
community, the local environment gets cleaner, and more wild and
all kinds of interesting posts appear on your local forum.
PS - You can also Tell Radio and TV Too...
If you are feeling particularly in the swing of things, you can
also tell your local radio and televison stations as well... :)
