Freecycling Made Easy!

FreeMesa.org Announces Expansion in Global Membership to over 3,000 Cities in 35 Countries Around the World

San Jose, CA (Nov. 1, 2006) - FreeMesa.org, the world's first easy-to-use free recycling website, announced today that its membership has expanded into over 3,000 cities in 35 countries worldwide. Founded in January of 2006, and launched on August 15, FreeMesa.org provides a place that allows users to post free stuff to swap with their local community.

"After hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans and ruined and scattered personal belongings, it was obvious to me that something needed to be done," said Brian Johnson, founder of FreeMesa.org. "The horrible irony was that even in the midst of such destruction, there were so many people willing to help, but with no way to get it where it was needed."

FreeMesa.org works by giving people an easy-to-use and flexible place where they can post free stuff their local community, free of charge. By providing a customizable list of postings in their local area, as well as forums that allow interaction between members, individuals can freecycle free stuff from their local areas. This gets people the stuff they need at no cost and saves it from the landfill.

"The growth of the site has been astounding; I never imagined it would go so far so fast. The free freecycle concept seems to resonate with many people as a profound, yet simple concept whose time has come," said Johnson.

The freecycling movement improves the lives of everyone involved: Members who post free stuff seek freedom from clutter, enabling them to reduce house build up as well as save money by not having to pay a removal service; recipients win because they receive much needed items. This rapidly growing movement is a sustainable, fun, and will revolutionize how recycling gets done.

The quality and type of items being offered are varied, and include many useful items. On top of the standard fare of books, furniture and the like, an occasional hot tub, working car, horse, or even Madagascar Hissing Cockroach have been posted, all for free.

"I'm still waiting to see a kitchen sink." Johnson said. "With hundreds of new users joining everyday, it's just a matter of time."
