Example Banner Ads
I recieved a few requests for some example banner ads to help in the design process. So, I went into our ad directory and pulled up a bunch of ad banners from our old campaigns and made the list below.
I'm not saying they're all fabulous, but they should give you some ideas on how a banner can be designed. Since the ads will appear in the emails with a white background, adding a border around the banner is probably a good way to go... And you can really see how the high contrast ads really stand out.
"The Devil's Panties / Not Satanic Porn" banner with no image performed better than all other banners by at least a 2:1 margin. Keeping it simple, readable, and interesting is a hard balance to find, but worth it.
