Spam Filtering!

In a double edged sword, FreeMesa is finally becoming popular enough to attract our very own spammers! Go us! So, to counter the problem, we have implemented an auto filter.

Each message and post is checked against a list of known Spam and Scam websites. If there is a match, the post is automatically reported, removed, and the user is automatically banned. As they get more creative, so shall we. I will not stand by and let a few malicious people corrupt the mission of FreeMesa.

Other Stuff!

We also outgrew our old server, and had to move to a brand new ISP over the weekend. This new server should be faster and better than our old one. Also, we're making substantial progress fixing all the bugs we found from the 2.0 upgrade.

It looks like switch to 2.0 mostly went off without a hitch, but given that the upgrade was basically a rewrite of the entire site from scratch there were bound to be a few issues. Fortunately, it looks like there was nothing major, and by the end of the week we should be running more or less bug free!

Which I'm really looking forward to! That will give us time to do more fun things like more contests and work on adding features to FreeMesa and telling more people about it! It's going to be fun! :D
